Katie Price’s close circle has expressed surprise at her composed response to a recent video released by her ex-husband Alex Reid, which shows Katie handling a large sum of cash amid her ongoing bankruptcy struggles. The clip, shared just days ago, has reignited tensions between Katie and both of her former husbands, Alex Reid and Peter Andre.
Alex Reid, 50, who divorced Katie Price, 47, in 2011 after a brief marriage, claimed the video would reveal “the truth” about Katie’s financial situation. However, those close to Katie say the release blindsided her and caused distress for Peter Andre, her first husband. Despite this, Katie has chosen not to react aggressively. Instead, she is reportedly “biding her time” and has sought legal counsel, according to The Mirror.
Insiders told The Sun that friends and family were amazed at Katie’s calm demeanor during the ordeal, especially given the emotional toll such situations have taken on her in the past. “This isn’t the first time her ex-husbands have teamed up against her, but before, it pushed her to a very dark place,” said one source. This time, though, Katie is in “a completely different place” mentally.

The source revealed Katie’s attitude toward Alex’s stunt is one of indifference: “If Alex wants to create drama for attention, then good for him.” Despite being caught off guard by the video’s publication, those close to Katie say she is refusing to stoop to Alex’s level and won’t respond immediately. Instead, she is focusing on legal advice and carefully planning her next steps.
The controversy stems from a one-minute and 38-second video, reportedly filmed in late 2020, showing Katie seated on a sofa counting a wad of cash while saying, “There’s loads here… I’m just sorting it out.” The video also captures an exchange with her daughter, Princess Andre, regarding school fees and finances tied to Peter Andre. In response, Katie dismissively told her daughter, “Your dad can sit on that,” adding she was in bankruptcy until the following May.
The footage was passed on to Katie’s bankruptcy trustee, who is investigating assets and claims during her financial proceedings. Katie’s spokesperson clarified that the cash in the video did not belong to Katie, and the property she mentioned had already been addressed during her divorce settlement with Peter Andre.
Katie Price has declared bankruptcy twice, first in 2019 with debts of £3.5 million, including nearly £1 million owed to HMRC. She was declared bankrupt again in March due to an additional HMRC debt of over £760,000. Among her creditors is Alex Reid, who won a 2019 court ruling against Katie for sharing private and sensitive information that violated his privacy.
Alex Reid’s representative responded to recent events by accusing Katie and others of spreading false claims about him, stating, “Alex has been subjected to years of baseless and misleading narratives that have caused lasting harm.” They asserted that Alex is now determined to set the record straight and hold those who have damaged his reputation accountable, emphasizing, “The time for accountability has come, this is about the truth and nothing more.”
