Katie Price Reveals Harrowing Domestic Abuse Experience in Emotional Social Media Post

Former glamour model and television personality Katie Price has shared a powerful and heartbreaking post on Instagram addressing the issue of domestic abuse. The post coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day and highlighted the devastating connection between domestic abuse and suicide.

Katie reposted a message from Women’s Aid on her Instagram Stories, emphasizing the often-overlooked epidemic of violence against women. The caption read: “Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay and we wanted to recognise the hidden epidemic of violence against women that is only just starting to be recognised. Statistic: NPCC report from the Home Office.” The post included a staggering statistic: more survivors of domestic abuse died by suicide last year than were murdered by their partners.

Katie has previously spoken candidly about her own experiences with abusive relationships. Now in a happy relationship with Married At First Sight UK star JJ Slater, Katie reflected on her painful past during an honest conversation on Paul C. Brunson’s podcast, We Need To Talk. She described enduring “domestic abuse, gaslighting, narcissists” throughout her previous relationships.

She detailed the isolating nature of such relationships, sharing how her abusers controlled her access to family and friends, demeaned her, and constantly monitored her whereabouts. Katie revealed to Paul the traumatic moments she’s still unpacking in therapy, including being strangled, spat on, having her computer smashed, walls punched, and enduring name-calling.

When asked if she ever feared for her life, Katie confirmed that she did but felt trapped. She explained the cycle of abuse where apologies and declarations of love kept her from leaving, saying, “I couldn’t leave because [the partners say] ‘I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I’ll never do it again. I love you, and it’s always ‘you will never find anyone as good as me.’”

This revelation comes shortly after Katie expressed anxiety over the potential return of her cancer. She was previously diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer called leiomyosarcoma two decades ago, which affected her finger. After successful removal and six years of close monitoring, she was given the all-clear. However, recent concerns have led her to undergo further medical evaluations as she hopes for good news.

Katie shared her worries openly: “This better not be my bad news, and get bad results, because all this is happening, and then normally in my life something good happens and then something bad happens. Let’s hope it’s nothing bad.”

Katie Price’s openness brings vital attention to the realities of domestic abuse and mental health struggles, offering support and awareness to those who may be suffering in silence.
