Josie Gibson Explores Somerset Cider and Westcountry Flavours in New ITV Series

ITV is launching an exciting new series, Josie’s Taste of the Westcountry, spotlighting the exceptional culinary delights of Somerset and beyond. The show follows Bristol-native and television presenter Josie Gibson alongside acclaimed celebrity chef Paul Ainsworth as they journey through the West Country’s diverse food landscape.

Across five episodes, Josie and Paul traverse the region from Gloucestershire down to Cornwall, discovering beloved local restaurants, skilled artisans, and passionate food producers. In the second episode, Josie takes a fascinating trip deep into the historic caverns of Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, immersing herself in the area’s unique heritage.

The presenter also enjoys a scenic ride on a traditional train along the Somerset coast and gains hands-on experience learning oyster shucking and the art of cider-making. “I met some incredible people along the way, doing incredible things,” Josie enthused. “I love cider—and visiting several cider farms, including Harry’s Cider, was a real highlight.”

As a proud West Country native, Josie is thrilled to showcase the region’s finest food and drink. “With its rolling hills, rugged moors, and stunning coastline, the Westcountry is close to my heart,” she shared. “Whether you’re a foodie or not, this show is for you — it’s wholesome and full of delightful discovery.”

Throughout the journey, Josie gains new appreciation for the wealth of local produce on her doorstep. “We should be really proud of what we have here. It’s been amazing to shine a spotlight on some of the incredible people in the Westcountry,” she added.

Collaborating with Josie is Paul Ainsworth, owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 in Padstow, Cornwall. “Meeting Paul and seeing how he transforms simple ingredients into extraordinary dishes was eye-opening,” Josie said. “I’ve always hoped to dine at No. 6—maybe now I’ll get the chance!”

Josie’s ideal day in Cornwall would include visiting Jack Stein’s restaurant alongside Paul’s venue, reflecting her growing connection to the region’s food scene.

Josie’s Taste of the Westcountry, presented in association with Rodda’s, premieres Sunday 19th April at 11:25am on ITV and ITVX.
