Bath Rugby’s head of rugby, Johann van Graan, revealed he will decide on Scottish international Cam Redpath’s participation in Friday’s EPCR Challenge Cup final against Lyon after the centre sustained an ankle injury over the weekend. Redpath, 25, limped off during Bath’s commanding 43-15 victory over Gallagher Premiership runners-up Leicester Tigers, casting doubt on his availability for the crucial match at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
Van Graan emphasized caution, stating in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference: “We will make a decision on him later in the week. We have arguably the best medical expert in rugby, Rory Murray, overseeing his recovery. Cam will only be selected if he is 100 percent fit because we need a full squad ready to perform for 80 minutes on Friday.”
The final brings some encouraging news for Bath, as Max Ojomoh made a remarkable comeback after an ankle injury sustained in April. His impactful 35-minute appearance at the Rec earned him TNT Sports’ Player of the Match honors. Van Graan praised Ojomoh’s defensive performance above all: “His tackling was outstanding, and his awareness led to a critical interception. Max is a special talent, and having him fit and available boosts our ambitions this season, especially with Ollie Lawrence sidelined due to an Achilles injury.”
