A Bath-based travel company specialising in stag and hen party arrangements has been saved from collapse, securing several jobs following its purchase by events expert Funktion Leisure. Groupia, which entered administration in June, was acquired by Funktion Leisure, the company behind Funktion Events, an ABTA-bonded UK event specialist established in 2007.
After the acquisition, all of Groupia’s brands-including the popular stag and hen party providers StagWeb and GoHen-have resumed trading under their new ownership.
Funktion Leisure has retained a number of Groupia’s former employees to assist with the relaunch. Jay Broughton, managing director of Funktion Events, said: “We acquired GoHen and StagWeb out of administration because they’re two of the strongest names in UK hen and stag travel, with more than 750,000 customers between them since 2002.”

He added: “Both brands are now open and accepting bookings again. Early demand since the relaunch has been very encouraging, demonstrating that the appetite for these services remains strong.”
Looking to the future, Mr Broughton explained: “Our priority is to provide stability by taking care of customers and delivering the high-quality experiences people expect from GoHen and StagWeb. We aim to build upon this foundation as part of an established, ABTA-bonded events group.”
Since 2007, Funktion Events has organised a variety of group events, including over 55,000 hen parties, 12,000 stag weekends, and numerous corporate and team-building activities. GoHen and StagWeb now form part of their extensive portfolio.
A statement on the company’s website confirmed: “Good news: Groupia and its brands are now part of Funktion Leisure Ltd, and bookings are open again across the group. For now, it is business as usual, with every brand active and accepting reservations.”
Groupia also indicated plans to invest in enhancing its websites and services in the coming months, promising to share further updates as these developments progress.
