Thomas Wilkinson, a 34-year-old burglar and serial shoplifter, has been sentenced to seven months in jail for a home break-in on Boxing Day and 10 counts of shoplifting. The break-in occurred in Peasmarsh, near Ilminster, where Wilkinson stole multiple items, including jewellery, after entering through a window. His crimes, committed between August 2024 and February 2025, were captured on camera, leading to his identification and subsequent arrest. Wilkinson was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
PC Jim Card, the officer handling the case, emphasized the impact of household burglary on victims and expressed satisfaction in securing Wilkinson’s conviction. The use of forensic evidence, incriminating footage, and a public appeal for information contributed to the successful prosecution. Wilkinson’s spree of shoplifting offenses over six months further added to the severity of his sentence.
