Two women, aged in their 60s and 90s, were victims of heartless jewellery snatchings in Taunton, with thieves fleeing the scene by car.
The first incident took place between 3.30pm and 3.45pm on Monday, April 27, according to Avon and Somerset Police. A woman in her 60s had several necklaces forcefully pulled from her neck on Hammet Street, sustaining an injury in the process. Just ten minutes later, a gold chain was stolen from a woman in her 90s in nearby Victoria Gate; she did not report any injuries.
The two suspects made their getaway in a vehicle, prompting an immediate police response. Officers coordinated efforts with Somerset Council’s CCTV team, roads policing units, Gwent Police, and the National Police Air Service helicopter. Their combined efforts resulted in the arrest of two men in Newport, Gwent by 5.20pm that same day.
