Jane Eyre Revival Returns to Taunton Stage with Live Wire Theatre

Charlotte Brontë’s enduring masterpiece, Jane Eyre, returns to the stage this autumn at Taunton Brewhouse in a powerful revival of the acclaimed Live Wire Theatre production.

Set to perform on Saturday, September 27, the play is adapted by award-winning writer and producer Dougie Blaxland, reviving the critically praised 2014/2015 production that captivated audiences across the UK.

This collaboration between Live Wire and RoughHouse Theatre has been celebrated as “a theatrical tour de force,” blending energy, loyalty, and intrigue to breathe new life into a beloved classic.

Directed by Shane Morgan with movement direction by Moira Hunt, the show offers a contemporary reimagining of the iconic heroine Jane Eyre, while faithfully honoring Brontë’s original narrative.

“Jane Eyre’s resilience is deeply inspiring,” says Morgan. “Despite a lonely and harsh childhood, she stands strong against adversity and refuses to be broken.”

Alison Campbell reprising her leading role brings an added layer of excellence to the production, having won widespread acclaim in the original run. Her performance was described as “as good as anything you will see on any stage in the UK.”

Produced by the creative team behind the National Campaign for the Arts Best Arts Project Award in 2021, this revival promises to be a highlight of the theatre season.

Following Taunton, Jane Eyre: an autobiography will tour venues including Phoenix Arts in Bordon, Alma Tavern Theatre in Bristol, Greenwich Theatre in London, and the Ustinov Studio in Bath.

Tickets for the Taunton performance are available at www.tauntonbrewhouse.co.uk.
