The England Lions have announced an 18-player squad for their upcoming winter tour of Australia, featuring promising talents including Somerset duo James and Thomas Rew. Among the standout selections is 21-year-old Leicestershire all-rounder Rehan Ahmed, who enjoyed a stellar 2025 County Championship season with 760 runs, including five centuries, and 23 wickets. His outstanding form has seen him tipped as a potential candidate for the senior Ashes squad.
Ahmed is joined by three other Test-capped players: Matthew Fisher, Tom Hartley, and Josh Hull. Limited-overs internationals Sonny Baker and Jordan Cox also feature, with Cox impressing for the Oval Invincibles in The Hundred by amassing 327 runs, and Baker earning his England debut in a one-day international against South Africa.
Making their first appearances in the Lions squad are under-19 captain Thomas Rew, alongside his brother James Rew, and Gloucestershire newcomers Matthew Revis, Ben Kellaway, and Asa Tribe.

Lions head coach Andrew Flintoff emphasized the significance of the tour, saying, “This squad comprises some incredibly talented players. The Australia trip presents a fantastic chance for them to adapt to challenging conditions and compete against top-class opponents. It will also provide valuable insight into what an away Ashes series demands.”
The Lions begin their tour with a three-day match against the England senior team—the only Ashes warm-up fixture—starting on November 13 in Perth. They will then face a Cricket Australia XI at the same venue before taking on Australia A in Brisbane.
The full England Lions squad includes: Rehan Ahmed (Leicestershire), Sonny Baker (Hampshire), Jordan Cox (Essex), Matthew Fisher (Surrey), Emilio Gay (Durham), Nathan Gilchrist (Warwickshire), Tom Hartley (Lancashire), Tom Haines (Sussex), Josh Hull (Leicestershire), Eddie Jack (Hampshire), Ben Kellaway (Glamorgan), Tom Lawes (Surrey), Ben McKinney (Durham), Matthew Revis (Yorkshire), James Rew (Somerset), Thomas Rew (Somerset), Mitchell Stanley (Lancashire), Asa Tribe (Glamorgan).
