Jack Leach has reaffirmed his dedication to Somerset by signing a new contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2028 season. The 34-year-old England spinner’s previous deal was set to expire in 2026, but his loyalty to Somerset has now been officially extended for two more years.
Having grown up supporting Somerset, Leach expressed his heartfelt connection to the club: “I’m really pleased to have made this commitment to the club that I love. I’ve always said that Somerset is my home, and I mean it. I wouldn’t want to be playing my cricket anywhere else.”
Leach’s journey with Somerset began in the youth ranks, progressing through the age group pathway before making his first-team debut against South Africa in 2012. Since then, he has been a stalwart for the club, earning his county cap in 2017 and appearing 156 times across all formats, taking 427 wickets. His impressive career extends beyond the county scene, with 142 wickets in 39 Test matches for England. He is also remembered for his resilient batting, including a top score of 92 and a crucial unbeaten partnership with Ben Stokes that contributed to England’s famous victory over Australia at Headingley in 2019.

His on-field performances are outstanding, and his work ethic is second to none. Jack has a genuine passion for the club and always gives 100 percent, whether on the field or in training. His dedication sets a standard for others to strive towards.”
Hurry added, “Having a world-class player like Jack at Somerset is invaluable, and we’re excited to see him, alongside his teammates, push the club towards even greater success in the coming years.”
