A man who was intoxicated and aggressive towards staff at a Burger King restaurant in Warminster, while a child was in the vehicle he was driving, has been sentenced to prison.
On the evening of Tuesday 21 July, shortly before 10pm, Wiltshire Police received reports of disruptive behaviour at the Burger King located in Grenada Services. Officers attended and found 39-year-old Michael Korgul behaving abusively towards staff, including throwing items and spitting at employees.
Police found Korgul driving a car in the restaurant’s car park with a child inside. The driver was clearly intoxicated, and alcohol was discovered inside the vehicle. Korgul refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently arrested. The child was safely returned to their home.

Korgul, from Wyville Road, Frome, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on 23 July. He pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, two counts of common assault, assault by beating, and failing to provide a breath specimen.
He was sentenced to 35 weeks imprisonment, disqualified from driving for 40 months, and ordered to pay £200 in compensation to the victims.
PC George Malin-Davis commented:
“On arrival at the scene, officers found Korgul visibly intoxicated, with slurred speech and unsteady movements. He was clearly unfit to drive, especially with a child in the vehicle. It is distressing to consider what might have happened without police intervention.
I would like to thank the victims and witnesses for their courage and cooperation in helping us gather evidence, ensuring Korgul was quickly brought before the courts.
I am pleased that a custodial sentence was imposed. Korgul targeted young female staff members simply carrying out their duties. His punishment reflects his blatant disregard for the law.”
