A charming 11-month-old golden miniature dachshund named Archie has been crowned the new Canine Executive Officer (CEO) of Clarks Village, a well-loved shopping destination in Somerset. Out of over 300 adorable contenders, Archie captured hearts and votes at the Pawsome Pooch event, held annually to celebrate dogs at the shopping outlet.
Archie, who boasts his own Instagram account @sausagedogarchie, impressed judges with his irresistible charm and was ultimately chosen through a public vote on Clarks Village’s social media channels. His owners, Beth Evans, 25, and her partner Adam, 29, of nearby Cheddar, are thrilled by their pup’s new role.
Beth shared, “Archie is like our child. He adores attention, loves meeting new people, and knows he’s handsome. He’s been a regular visitor to Clarks Village since he was a tiny pup, even coming in a sling to meet family for a bite at The Cornish Bakery. I’m sure he’ll be fantastic in his new CEO position.”

After an 18-month search for the perfect local dog, the couple settled on Archie, their first pet. Beth explained, “I initially wanted a larger dog like a Golden Retriever, but Adam preferred something smaller. Archie is like a mini Golden Retriever—intelligent, full of character, and doggy-human alike.”
Beyond his CEO duties, Archie shows great potential as a therapy dog. Beth notes his unique ability to comfort people, sensing when someone is upset and offering love and companionship. “I hadn’t planned for him to be a therapy dog, but he instinctively knows when someone’s having a tough day, and he’s incredibly loving. He even licks the tears off my face,” she said.
Clarks Village will officially welcome Archie as CEO in a celebratory event in October, where he will follow in the paws of Dudley, a three-legged Hungarian Vizsla rescue dog who previously held the role. Archie will also receive a prize package worth £500. Chris Davis, Centre Director, expressed excitement about Archie joining the team: “Archie has big paws to fill after Dudley’s tenure, but his character shines through, and we can’t wait to see him lead as we continue to warmly welcome all dogs and their families to Clarks Village.”
