Injured M5 Driver Hospitalized Following Somerset Collision

A man sustained head injuries in a two-vehicle collision on the M5 motorway in Somerset on the evening of February 14. Emergency responders were called to the scene between junctions 25 and 24 at approximately 8:10 pm.

The driver of a black Vauxhall Insignia was transported to hospital with a head injury but has since been discharged to continue recovery at home. The driver of the other vehicle, a blue Honda Accord, experienced minor injuries.

At the time of the accident, the northbound M5 was closed to traffic. Witnesses reported a significant emergency response, including three traffic highway units, two ambulances, a fire crew, and an undercover police car using the hard shoulder to reach the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information from motorists who were traveling in lane three just before the collision. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

A police spokesperson stated: “We are seeking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the time of the collision between the Vauxhall Insignia and the Honda Accord on the M5 northbound, between Junction 25 (Taunton) and Junction 24 (Bridgwater), on 14th February around 8.10 pm.

“We especially want to speak to the driver of a vehicle traveling in lane three immediately before the crash to assist with our enquiries.”
