Injured M5 Driver Hospitalized After Somerset Collision

A man sustained head injuries in a two-car accident on the M5 motorway in Somerset on February 14. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene between junctions 25 and 24 shortly after 8:10 pm.

The driver of a black Vauxhall Insignia was hospitalized due to a head injury but has since been discharged to recover at home. The second driver, who was behind the wheel of a blue Honda Accord, received minor injuries.

The northbound stretch of the M5 was temporarily closed following the collision, causing significant disruption. Eyewitnesses reported a strong emergency response, including traffic officers, ambulances, fire services, and an undercover police vehicle.

Avon and Somerset Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward, especially seeking information about a vehicle traveling in lane three immediately prior to the crash. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

A police spokesperson stated, “We’re appealing for witnesses following a collision on the M5 that resulted in serious head injuries. Any dashcam footage or information about the vehicle in lane three before the collision would be valuable.”
