Industrial Unit Destroyed in Highbridge Blaze

A significant fire broke out early Monday morning at a commercial industrial complex in Highbridge, Somerset, causing extensive damage to multiple units. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 8:53 am following numerous emergency calls reporting the blaze.

Upon arrival at the Burnham Without site, first responders found the building fully engulfed in flames. The initial response included three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform. Due to the severity of the fire, the team quickly requested additional assistance, totaling eight fire engines and a command support unit from nearby stations including Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham-On-Sea, Glastonbury, Street, Cheddar, Martock, and Weston-Super-Mare.

The industrial building housed eight individual units. Firefighters confirmed that one unit was completely destroyed by the fire, while two others suffered approximately 50 percent smoke damage. The fire was brought under control and extinguished by 12:26 pm, using a coordinated effort of one foam jet, three attack jets, two safety jets, and two hose reel jets.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire and are continuing their investigation. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson emphasized the rapid escalation and scale of the response, highlighting the effective teamwork that prevented further destruction.
