Indie Stars Headline Epic Free Party in the City Fundraiser

Reverend and the Makers are set to close this year’s Bath Festivals with an electrifying Bank Holiday performance at Komedia, Bath, on Monday, May 26. This special gig will raise crucial funds to support Party in the City, Bath’s beloved free music festival.

The Sheffield-based indie rock band, known for blending rock with dance beats, will be joined by local favourites The Ramona Flowers and Somerset singer-songwriter Alex Lipinski & The Crown Electric. All proceeds from ticket sales will directly fund the continuation of Party in the City, ensuring it remains free for future audiences.

Party in the City returned on May 16 with over 150 free gigs across 39 venues, lighting up Bath’s streets and parks with music and vibrant crowds. Known formerly as Party in the Park, this iconic festival has been at the heart of Bath’s cultural scene for over 40 years, spotlighting emerging and established musical talent alike.

The festivities extended with the Festival of Choirs on May 17, featuring 650 singers from 15 choirs performing at Green Park Station. A new Party in the City app also launched successfully, with over 3,700 downloads, helping attendees tailor their festival experience by genre, venue, and schedule.

This closing concert is generously supported by Distiller Music and Komedia, with all bands waiving their fees. Reverend and the Makers, led by Jon McClure and formed with members from Arctic Monkeys and Bromheads Jacket, have enjoyed top ten hits on the UK singles and albums charts along with their signature energetic shows and thought-provoking lyrics.

Supporting acts include The Ramona Flowers, renowned for their cinematic sound and high-energy performances, who have shared stages with icons like Muse, The Libertines, and Nile Rodgers. Also performing is Alex Lipinski, an accomplished guitarist and Americana songwriter, backed by his band The Crown Electric.

As an extra treat, Alex Lipinski is running a ‘Roadie for the Day’ competition. All ticket purchasers will be entered to win a unique chance to shadow the band, gaining backstage access and insider insights into the music industry—all with minimal heavy lifting involved.

Sam Dyson, owner of Distiller Records, commented, “Party in the City is a cherished tradition here, a rite of passage for many growing up in Bath. Supporting this festival and closing the Bath Festivals with such an incredible gig featuring three powerhouse acts is a real honour.”

Chris Rogers, artistic director for Party in the City, added, “The festival was a compelling reason for my wife and me to move to Bath in 1993. It’s a privilege to help the festival grow and reach new audiences. Thanks to everyone who makes this celebration possible and comes out to party!”

The event is proudly supported by sponsors including Bath BID, Mayden, Bath Recreation, Nicholas Wylde, Bath Pizza Co, Natural Theatre Company, the Norie Trust, and Bob Tyrrell.

Tickets for the fundraiser gig are available now at Komedia Bath.
