Incredible Somerset Independent Cider Makers Celebrate Over Two Decades of Success

Harry’s Cider, one of Somerset’s most cherished independent cider producers, is proudly celebrating 21 years of traditional cider making, alongside the first anniversary of its popular shop and taproom.

Founded in 2005 by Harry and his son Toby Fry, this family-run cidery has evolved from a small farm diversification project into a nationally recognized brand. Known for its characterful, small-batch ciders crafted exclusively from 100% cider apples using time-honored methods, Harry’s Cider has carved out a unique place in the market.

To commemorate this milestone, Harry’s Cider is launching an exclusive 2023 Vintage Fine Cider. This limited-edition release is created using traditional in-bottle fermentation and aged for two years, resulting in a crisp, lively cider with a natural sparkle. Designed for special occasions, it pairs beautifully with a fine meal or can be savored during celebrations.

The anniversary also highlights the success of the cidery’s shop and taproom, which opened just a year ago and has quickly become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike. Situated mere metres from the orchards where the apples are grown, harvested, and pressed, the venue offers an immersive experience that links the land directly to the glass.

“We wanted to create a space where people could slow down, enjoy exceptional cider, and connect with its origins,” explains Harry Fry. “It’s about sharing not only the drink but the entire story behind it.”

Harry’s Cider proudly utilises heritage apple varieties such as Harry Masters’ Jersey, Dabinett, Yarlington Mill, and Browns Apple. Their range includes traditional, sparkling, fruit, and mulled ciders, all crafted to highlight the rich depth and flavour of authentic cider. This unwavering dedication to quality has earned them national recognition, including the prestigious 2022 Reserve Supreme British Champion Cider award for Harry’s Dabinett.
