Plans for an exciting new leisure complex on the outskirts of Yeovil have received approval, paving the way for construction to begin within six months. The development, a collaboration between David Lloyd Leisure Ltd and The Abbey Manor Group, will be located on Plot E of the Bunford Park employment zone at the junction of the A3088 and Watercombe Lane.
This premium facility will include a gym, spa, and multiple swimming pools, designed to offer a comprehensive wellness experience. On the ground floor, visitors will find a spacious sports hall with indoor courts, a 10m by 20m indoor swimming pool accompanied by two children’s pools, a spa, changing rooms, a children’s soft play area, a lounge, and a business hub.
Outdoors, the complex will feature an additional swimming pool, a serene spa garden, six padel courts, a dynamic “battle box” activity zone, and a dedicated play area for children. The first floor is dedicated to fitness with a fully-equipped gym, a spin studio, and a high-intensity “blaze” studio to accommodate a variety of workout styles.

Complementing the indoor facilities, three outdoor tennis courts will be enclosed within an innovative air dome structure near the car park. The site will offer 289 parking spaces, including provisions for disabled visitors, parents with children, electric vehicle charging stations, and ample bicycle parking.
Enhanced walking and cycling routes will connect the complex with the Bunford Park business area and the wider network of cycle paths around Yeovil, promoting sustainable access options.
This development is expected to generate around 100 full-time jobs, significantly boosting local employment opportunities. The project aligns with the Bunford Park masterplan and incorporates sustainable design measures that ensure minimal impact on the surrounding area while supporting future site developments.
A spokesperson from Lichfields, representing the developers, highlighted that this best-in-class facility will enrich Yeovil and the greater Somerset community both socially and economically. With planning permission granted, David Lloyd aims to commence development promptly, delivering a new hub for health, fitness, and leisure.
