Incredible Moment Deer Spotted Swimming Across Rivers Twice in Cornwall

Stunning footage has captured the remarkable sight of deer swimming across rivers in Cornwall on two separate occasions, enchanting locals and visitors alike. The first event occurred at Tresillian, where a deer was seen gracefully crossing the river beside the Wheel Inn. The pub shared the video on its Facebook page on May 26, showcasing the deer gliding through the water before struggling briefly to climb the bank and then bounding off into the surrounding greenery.

“One of our locals caught this amazing clip whilst in our riverside garden the other evening,” the Wheel Inn posted. “It really is an amazing place to sit, relax with dinner and a drink and enjoy our little area of nature.”

Just days later, on June 4, a second encounter unfolded at Malpas in Truro. Local angler and resident Marc Smith filmed a deer swimming across the river while he was fishing early that morning. He described the experience to CornwallLive as a “real welcome sight” that brightened his day.

Although Marc frequently fishes the river and has seen deer near the foreshore before, this was the first time he managed to capture such a breathtaking moment on camera. In his video, the deer can be seen wading steadily through the water, showcasing an extraordinary display of wildlife activity in Cornwall’s rivers.
