Iconic Roman Baths to Host Silent Disco, Murder Mystery, and Folklore Events

The iconic Roman Baths in Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is set to come alive with a series of unique after-dark events this autumn and winter. Visitors and locals alike will have the chance to experience this historic landmark through a variety of engaging activities, from a silent disco to a murder mystery night and a folklore-themed parish council meeting.

Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic and Cultural Sustainable Development at Bath and North East Somerset Council, says, “These events offer fresh and exciting ways to enjoy the Roman Baths. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or just looking for something fun and different, there’s something for everyone.”

The season kicks off on Friday, November 7, with the first-ever silent disco inside the ancient bathhouse. Guests can dance the night away where Roman citizens once bathed, with a complimentary drink included (£25 per person).

On Tuesday, November 18, the baths will host an intimate folklore-themed parish council meeting blending comedy, poetry, and music inspired by pagan traditions (£15).

For those drawn to mystery, a thrilling murder mystery evening is planned for Wednesday, December 3. Set in 1897, guests will investigate the suspicious death of Major Charles Davis during the unveiling of the Roman Promenade. The event includes a complimentary drink, exploration of the sites, suspect interrogations, and the chance to solve the crime (£35).

Adjacent to the baths, The Pump Room restaurant will organize festive Christmas parties and a glamorous New Year’s Eve ball. The Christmas celebrations feature a drinks reception at the torch-lit baths, while the New Year’s ball offers a four-course dinner, casino tables, and photo booths to welcome 2025 in style (£85 and £100, respectively).

All events require advance booking and promise memorable evenings steeped in history and entertainment. Don’t miss these extraordinary opportunities to celebrate culture and heritage at one of Britain’s most treasured landmarks.
