This summer, Greggs has shaken up its menu with a variety of exciting new items, headed by what might be their most sophisticated offering to date: a red pepper, feta, and spinach bake.
Greggs shared their enthusiasm around the launch, stating, “We’re thrilled to introduce the new Red Pepper, Feta and Spinach Bake in the coming weeks, delivering a delicious veggie option perfect for the summer season.”
Alongside this veggie bake, the menu features Korean-inspired bites and revitalizing health shots—a turmeric and ginger shot is available to boost your day. Sweet lovers can indulge in a lemon meringue muffin, strawberry yoghurt, and a caramelised biscuit iced latte.

Eager to explore these innovations, I visited my local Greggs and sampled each new creation to see if the fresh choices live up to the hype.
Starting with the bake, the red pepper, feta, and spinach blend was a harmonious mix of familiar flavours beloved in vegetarian fare. At £2.10, it offers generous filling without compromise. While the filling was slightly cooler than ideal, which subdued some of its flavor impact, it remains a standout choice on the menu, especially for vegetarians seeking variety.
The health shots came as a surprise, sourced from Plenish—a renowned plant-based wellness drink company—not typical for Greggs. Yet, they provide a refreshing and welcome twist, widening the bakery’s appeal. The turmeric and ginger shot, in particular, was a sharp, invigorating pick-me-up I’d not have expected at a bakery counter.
I then explored the Korean barbecue options: the Spicy Korean Barbecue Chicken Baguette and the Korean Barbecue Chicken Flatbread. The baguette impressed with its spicy Southern fried chicken goujons, crunchy slaw, jalapeños, and a tangy Korean barbecue sauce drizzle—a flavorful explosion. The flatbread was tasty but less dynamic, as the sliced chicken lacked the punch of the goujons, and the flatbread format made it a messier bite.
For dessert, I started with the lemon meringue muffin. As a fan of citrus, I appreciated the well-balanced tanginess from the lemon curd filling, icing, and sponge, making it a perfectly refreshing treat.
The Fat-Free Greek Style Yoghurt with Strawberry Compote was a lighter option with 7.5g of protein, though I wished the strawberry compote flavor was more pronounced. It fits well as a healthy yet indulgent choice.
To finish, I sampled the Caramelised Biscuit Iced Latte. Often, such drinks are cloyingly sweet, but here, the syrup was subtle enough to let the coffee shine through on every sip, a welcome balance.
Greggs’ updated menu represents a bold step beyond its traditional offerings. While it may take time for some customers to adjust to these new directions, it’s exciting to see Greggs evolving to meet modern tastes and preferences.
