I Tried Glastonbury Festival’s Iconic £17 Ostrich Burger — and It Surprised Me

At Glastonbury Festival, attendees are just as passionate about the food as they are about the music. Beyond braving the chilly nights and dancing to world-class performers, festival-goers flock to the diverse food stalls dotted across Worthy Farm. Yet, nothing captures attention quite like the iconic £17 ostrich burger.

Known simply as “The Glastonbury,” this burger is served at the popular I Love Ostrich stall near the Other Stage, a spot destined to host stars like Charli XCX, Gracie Abrams, and The Prodigy in the coming days. The burger features a patty made from ostrich meat, prized for being high in protein, low in fat, rich in iron, and boasting a flavor profile remarkably similar to beef.

Estel Farrell Roig, a reporter from SomersetLive, finally grabbed a bite on Thursday, June 26, and was pleasantly surprised. “I was impressed by the quality of the burger, especially for a festival setting,” she shared after paying £17.50 for the burger and a side of Stilton fries. “The meat was juicy, and the toppings—including jalapeños and spicy sauce—added fantastic flavor. The fries were fresh, and the blue Stilton topping perfectly complemented the dish. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re anywhere near the Other Stage.”

But Glastonbury’s culinary offerings extend far beyond this standout burger. With over 400 food traders, festival-goers can explore a smorgasbord of global cuisines, including Thai, Italian, Indian, Caribbean, Greek, and classic British staples like hearty pies, traditional burgers, and bacon sandwiches. The festival also caters thoughtfully to diverse dietary needs, featuring numerous vegan and vegetarian stalls and accommodating other specific requirements.

A spokesperson on the Glastonbury Festival website sums it up perfectly: “Take time out during the Festival to really explore the markets – they are all over the Festival site. Have a good wander around – you’ll be amazed at what you can find.”
