Hundreds to Tackle Bath’s 22-Mile Charity Walk Supporting Homelessness

Next month, hundreds of walkers will lace up their boots for the 24th annual Circuit of Bath Walk, one of the South West’s largest charity walking events. This iconic trek of up to 22 miles takes participants on a scenic journey through countryside paths, canal towpaths, and rolling hills surrounding the city, all in support of Julian House, a local charity dedicated to helping people who are homeless or at risk.

Scheduled for Sunday, 21 September 2025, the event offers flexibility with five checkpoints operating between 7:30am and 6:30pm. While the full circuit presents a rewarding challenge, walkers can opt for shorter routes by starting and finishing at any checkpoint. To assist participants, a complimentary shuttle bus will connect all five checkpoints throughout the day.

Highlights of the route include breathtaking panoramic views from Little Solsbury Hill, Lansdown, and the Millennium Viewpoint. The trail is family-friendly, with sections accessible for prams, and welcomes both children and dogs, making it an inclusive event for all.

Rachel Avent, Community and Events Fundraiser for Julian House, emphasizes the impact: “The Circuit of Bath Walk is more than just a physical challenge. It’s a chance for everyone to contribute to rebuilding lives. Every step taken and every penny raised directly aids at-risk individuals through our emergency hostel and domestic abuse refuge, literally helping to save lives.”

Last year’s event drew over 500 participants and raised more than £50,000. With rising operational costs and funding cuts affecting their work—such as a £165,000 increase in employer National Insurance contributions this year—Julian House hopes to see even greater support in 2025.

Entry fees are £15 for adults and £8 for children, with family discounts available. These fees cover the cost of staging the event, ensuring that all sponsorship proceeds go directly to the charity’s vital services.
