A house on Ladram Road near Otterton, Devon, was reduced to rubble after a suspected gas explosion on Monday, August 11, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Emergency services rushed to the scene as flames engulfed the wreckage, leaving the property entirely destroyed.
Multiple fire engines arrived to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas. The incident led to the closure of the road connecting Otterton Village and Ladram Bay to ensure public safety and provide unobstructed access for emergency responders. Authorities expect the road to remain closed for several hours.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that five appliances attended the incident, dividing efforts into two sectors to control the fire effectively. Fortunately, all occupants have been accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.

Devon and Cornwall Police provided support to the fire department and expressed gratitude toward local residents, farmers, and staff at Ladram Bay who promptly assisted during the emergency.
Ladram Bay Holiday Park also announced the temporary closure of access roads due to the explosion, apologizing for any inconvenience and promising to provide updates as the situation develops.
