A devastating fire tore through a 19th-century hotel in Langford Budville, Somerset, causing part of the building to collapse during the early hours of Sunday, July 13. The fire broke out late Saturday night at Bindon Country House, a 13-bedroom hotel housed in a historic three-story annexe.
The blaze was reported around 11:50 pm by a member of the public, prompting a major emergency response involving 12 fire stations. Firefighters battled the flames throughout the night, working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other areas of the hotel.
The fire resulted in the collapse of a section of the building as crews focused on extinguishing the blaze. No injuries have been reported, as both guests and staff were safely evacuated.

Justin Williams, co-owner of the Amchara health and wellbeing retreat which leases the property, expressed relief and gratitude toward the fire service for their rapid response. He acknowledged the severe disruption caused by the fire, highlighting the damage: one bedroom completely destroyed, four with moderate damage on the first floor, and additional smoke damage to other rooms on the upper floors.
Wellington Fire Station confirmed the fire started on the first floor and spread to the roof space, causing approximately 25% fire damage and 20% smoke damage to the property. Firefighters utilized multiple jets and breathing apparatus to control and extinguish the fire, working diligently to safeguard the rest of the hotel.
