Honoring Mark: Suzanne’s Heartfelt Canal Walk

Suzanne Hunt is lacing up her shoes on Saturday, May 17, to take part in the Walk of Life, a charity event along the Kennet and Avon Canal. This annual walk, organized by RUHX, the official NHS charity of the Royal United Hospitals Bath, aims to raise funds for the hospital. Suzanne, along with hundreds of other participants, is honoring the memory of her brother, Mark Hunt, by joining the 19th year of this event.

The Walk of Life offers participants the choice of a 10-mile, 16-mile, or full marathon route, with the walk starting between Bishops Cannings and the Holburne Museum in Bath. Suzanne, who previously engaged in a major charity challenge 20 years ago at the Bath Half Marathon, is now walking in memory of her brother, who tragically succumbed to a brain tumor at the young age of 37.

Mark, who would have turned 60 this year, is being commemorated through Suzanne’s symbolic journey. She is urging fellow walkers to raise £100 each to aid the hospital in its ongoing efforts to support patients, families, staff, and the local community.

Suzanne specifically selected the Walk of Life as a way to give back to the hospital that provided exceptional care in recent years. She expressed her deep gratitude, stating, “My experience made me feel that someone cared about what were genuine medical issues that needed addressing quickly.”

The walk, sponsored by Savills, serves as vital support for RUHX’s initiatives, funding innovative healthcare projects, technology, and essential support services throughout the region.
