Holy Trinity Primary School in Taunton has transformed its lunchtime experience by replacing outsourced catering with a brand-new on-site kitchen. This change allows meals to be freshly prepared daily using high-quality ingredients, offering pupils a variety of nutritious choices.
The new facility was officially opened with the support of local MP Gideon Amos, who praised the school’s commitment to improving pupil health and wellbeing. He noted the significant reduction in food waste and observed that students are returning to class energised and ready to learn.
Year 6 pupil ambassadors expressed their enthusiasm for the upgrade. Harry shared, “The new kitchen has made our lunchtimes better. The meals are tastier and of higher quality because they’re made with fresh ingredients and new equipment.” Bella B added, “We love the bigger portions and how nicely the meals look. The lunch hall feels calmer, and we enjoy being there more.”

Headteacher Lisa Eadie emphasised that the kitchen upgrade reflects the school’s wider commitment to nurturing and inspiring every child. “It’s about more than just food; it’s about creating an environment where children feel cared for and motivated to learn,” she said.
During his visit, Mr. Amos also explored the school’s free food and uniform pantry, which supports local families and contributes to reducing waste in the community.
