Steven Berkoff, acclaimed actor and director known for his iconic roles in Beverly Hills Cop, Rambo, and Octopussy, has been named a patron of Queen’s College Performing Arts. The Taunton-based school’s theatre programme gains a distinguished supporter with Berkoff’s prestigious association.
During a recent visit, Berkoff engaged Year 10 and Year 12 students, along with performing arts scholars, in an inspiring talk that showcased his passion for the craft. He also held a conversation with Ian Trafford, the school’s director of performing arts. The experience left a lasting impression, culminating in Berkoff’s appointment as an honorary patron.
Berkoff’s impressive career extends beyond film to British theatre, where he has performed at the National Theatre and contributed as a writer and director of original stage works. His television credits include appearances in Doctor Who and Vikings.

Reflecting on his visit, Berkoff commented, “I was thoroughly impressed by your exceptionally bright students. It was a pleasure to speak with such attentive and curious young people—qualities rarely encountered in my decades of talks. This alertness clearly stems from inspired teaching, so I must commend you for that.”
Queen’s College boasts a thriving performing arts reputation, supported by the Queen’s Hall Theatre, which regularly showcases ambitious productions. This year, the theatre ran a sold-out performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, drawing over 2,000 attendees. Local media praised the production, noting the students’ evident dedication and passion, calling the show “truly magical.”
