HIVE Brings Local Creativity to Life at The Bridgy Gallery

More than twenty talented artists have come together to create HIVE, a compelling new exhibition that celebrates nature, landscape, and community through diverse artistic media.

HIVE is currently on display at The Bridgy Gallery in Bridgwater, running until Friday, October 17. This free exhibition is part of the Bridgwater Town Deal’s cultural event series and offers visitors a unique opportunity to engage with local creativity.

Curated by local artist and creative producer Sami Green, the show features a vibrant mix of paintings, sculptures, installations, and mixed media works. The exhibition includes contributions from established artists as well as emerging talents from Somerset, presenting fresh and varied perspectives.

The launch event on Wednesday, September 18, brought the community together with art, dance performances, local food, and chances to meet the artists behind the work. Sami Green shared, “HIVE centers on connection—to nature, to one another, and to the creative energy within us all. This exhibition is a tribute to that connection, and we invite everyone to be part of it.”

Jeremy James from the Bridgwater Town Deal expressed pride in supporting HIVE, saying, “This project embodies our commitment to fostering local creativity and making the arts accessible to everyone. It beautifully reflects the ambition and vibrant community spirit of Bridgwater’s future.”

A standout feature of the exhibition is the return of the beloved Swarm textile bee installation, crafted by community members. Additionally, hands-on bee-making workshops were held on September 27 and October 4, encouraging creative participation.

HIVE remains open to the public until October 17, with free entry for all visitors. For more information, check Bridgwater Here and Now social media channels.
