High-Value Burglary at Yeovil Construction Site Involves Theft of Heavy Machinery

A significant theft involving heavy-duty construction machinery has taken place at a builders' merchants on Hendford Hill, Yeovil. The burglary occurred between 4:30 pm on Saturday, February 28, and 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 1, targeting high-value equipment.

According to Avon and Somerset Police, two individuals conducted detailed planning for the theft early on February 28, between 7:20 am and 7:30 am. The group returned the following day to carry out the raid.

On March 1, during the late afternoon and evening hours, the offenders loaded several valuable pieces of machinery onto a large, full-sized HGV with blue, high-sided curtains. This vehicle entered and exited the site via Lysander Road. A small, dark vehicle was also seen following the lorry onto the site.

Police are actively investigating and have reviewed CCTV footage and interviewed witnesses as part of their enquiries. They are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify those responsible or assist in recovering the stolen goods.

Officers are especially interested in anyone who was near the site on the two dates and may have seen multiple individuals entering or leaving the premises. They are also seeking dashcam footage from drivers travelling along Hendford Hill, Lysander Road, and surrounding areas during the times of the incident.

Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green acknowledged the community’s concerns, stating, “This was a sophisticated and organised high-value burglary. We want to reassure residents and businesses that we are working tirelessly to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. Any piece of information, no matter how small, could be crucial.”
