‘Hero’ Taunton Lorry Driver Blocks Road to Save Woman Clinging to Bridge

A lorry driver in Taunton has been hailed a hero for his quick response during a distressing incident involving a woman clinging to a bridge over the Toneway.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that a woman was safely rescued from the bridge on the A358 Toneway yesterday afternoon, February 25. The incident unfolded around 3:10 pm and was resolved by 4:20 pm without injury.

Meanwhile, another van driver parked his vehicle across both lanes to halt traffic, preventing any vehicles from passing under the bridge during the tense situation.

Social media flooded with praise for those involved. One eyewitness who stopped traffic said, “I called the police and want to thank the man who held the lady on the bridge and the livestock driver who put his truck underneath. The most important thing is she is safe now, and hopefully, she will get the support she needs.”

The incident was widely described as a powerful example of compassion and bravery. Many expressed their hopes that the woman receives the help and care necessary following the ordeal.
