Henry Arundell Recalled by England as Bath Rugby Signing Ends French Stint

Explosive winger Henry Arundell has been recalled by England head coach Steve Borthwick for a four-day training camp at Pennyhill Park, gearing up for this summer’s internationals. The 22-year-old regains eligibility following his recent signing of a three-year contract with Bath Rugby.

Arundell rose to prominence three years ago as one of English rugby’s most exciting young talents. He made a sensational England debut in 2022 with London Irish, scoring a try against Australia with his very first touch. However, when London Irish entered administration in 2023, Arundell chose to join French Top 14 side Racing 92 instead of Bath, which temporarily sidelined his international career.

This season, Bath Rugby head coach Johann van Graan secured Arundell’s services for the 2025/26 campaign, making him once again eligible for England selection. Despite injury setbacks during the second half of the season with Racing, Arundell made a strong impact in the final game, scoring two tries and assisting another in a 47-34 away win over Lyon.

In his England career so far, Arundell has scored seven tries in 10 appearances, including a record-equalling five tries against Chile at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. He is expected to feature in the upcoming uncapped match against a France XV at Twickenham on June 21, followed by a two-Test summer tour to Argentina and a third Test against the USA in Washington DC.

Currently, Arundell is the only Bath player involved in England’s training camp as Bath prepare for the Premiership final against Leicester Tigers, with a potential treble on the line. Notably, British & Irish Lions players are absent from this summer’s squad. England’s final touring squad will be announced on Monday, 23 June.

Meanwhile, Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has named Cam Redpath and Josh Bayliss for their upcoming tour of Fiji, Samoa, and a clash against the Māori All Blacks.

England’s 37-player training squad features a blend of seasoned pros and emerging talent, including names like George Ford, Henry Slade, and Alex Coles. Some players remain unavailable due to injury, but the camp promises a deep pool of options ahead of a busy international schedule.
