Ella Cook, a dedicated NHS worker, tragically lost her life in a fatal car accident on April 15, 2023, on the A46 in Claverton, Somerset. In a poignant twist of fate, Ella received donated blood—collected and processed by herself earlier that day—after the collision that took her life.
Ella, 26, from Warminster, was engaged to Kai Poa-Tams. Known for her warmth, creativity, and generous spirit, Ella touched the lives of many as a loving partner, daughter, sister, and friend. Kai described her as someone who brought people together effortlessly, filling their lives with laughter, kindness, and beauty. Beyond her personal qualities, Ella was a talented and committed member of NHS Blood and Transplant, advancing in her career with passion and determination.
The court sentenced Alfie Cook, 22, and Lewis Glasby, 23, to prison terms of nine years and nine years four months respectively, after they pleaded guilty to causing Ella’s death and serious injuries through dangerous driving. The two had been racing on the road moments before the fatal collision. Both men will be disqualified from driving for five years upon release and must pass extended driving tests to regain their licences.
