Bath Rugby has announced that towering lock Harvey Cuckson will be leaving the Gallagher Premiership club at the conclusion of the season to join the Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship.
Standing 6ft 7in and weighing 120kg, the 22-year-old Cuckson has a solid pedigree, having represented England at U18, U19, and U20 levels. He joined Bath’s academy in 2022 following the collapse of Worcester Warriors and has since made 10 appearances for Bath, debuting in the Premiership Rugby Cup against Ampthill. In addition, Cuckson showcased his talents in BUCS Super Rugby representing the University of Bath.
This season, Cuckson spent time on loan with the Scarlets, appearing in five games. His performances impressed Interim Director of Rugby Nigel Davies, leading to a permanent contract offer. Growing up in North Wales and qualifying for Wales through his grandmother, Cuckson’s connection to Welsh rugby made him an appealing prospect for the Scarlets.

Davies commented, “Harvey made a real impression during his brief time with us. He joined us at short notice for a tough tour in South Africa and demonstrated remarkable composure and physicality. His strength in the set-piece, defensive work rate, and eagerness to learn stood out. Developing players with strong Welsh ties is a priority for us, and Harvey embodies that potential and mindset to grow within our squad. We’re excited to support his ongoing development here.”
Cuckson himself expressed enthusiasm about the move: “I really enjoyed my spell with the Scarlets earlier this season. The club has a clear identity, strong ambition, and passionate supporters. Playing rugby in Wales and being part of this team is a tremendous opportunity. I’m eager to embrace the challenge of the URC and get fully involved in pre-season preparations.”
