Gunman on the Run After Drive-By Shooting in Yeovil

A firearm was discharged from a vehicle at the Lufton Trading Estate in Yeovil, prompting a significant emergency response on Wednesday, October 1. At approximately 12:45 pm, armed police officers were called to the industrial estate after reports that a gun had been fired from a red 4x4.

The suspects fled the scene quickly in the same vehicle. Despite extensive searches, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large. Avon and Somerset Police have since located and seized the red 4x4 believed to be involved in the incident.

The investigation included coordinated efforts between armed officers on the ground and the National Police Air Service helicopter. Police have assured the public that there is no wider threat to community safety.

Inspector Roseanna Green addressed local concerns: “We understand this incident may cause worry, but there is no evidence of a broader risk to the public. Officers continue their crucial work at the scene, and detectives are pursuing all leads to identify those responsible. Additional patrols are being conducted in the area to maintain community safety.”

Residents are encouraged to approach police officers with any concerns, as support and assistance remain available.
