Great British Menu Welcomes Four South West Chefs for 21st BBC Series

The 21st series of the BBC’s acclaimed cooking competition, Great British Menu, returns later this month, featuring an exciting lineup of talented chefs from the South West. Jeffrey Robinson, Mark Tuttiett, Ciaran Brennan, and Martin Baylis have all earned their spots among the 32 chefs competing nationwide.

Presented by Andi Oliver, with renowned chef Tom Kerridge leading the judging panel, this year’s contest challenges chefs to create dishes inspired by the British film industry, with a unique twist—each dish must reflect a connection to the chef’s region or nation.

The competition unfolds across eight heats, with chefs vying for a coveted place at the grand finale banquet. This year’s banquet takes place at Liverpool’s St George’s Hall, a historic venue famously doubled as Gotham City Hall in the film The Batman, adding cinematic flair to the event.

Joining Tom Kerridge on the judging panel are comedian Phil Wang and esteemed chef Lorna McNee, alongside a rotating veteran judge who will evaluate the contestants’ creations each week.

Host Andi Oliver shared her excitement about the new series, highlighting the emotional depth and creativity on display. “There is glamour and really quite moving nostalgia in equal measure,” she remarked. “The chefs celebrate everything from major blockbusters to cult classics, reaching into those cinematic moments that resonate deeply with all of us.”

Andi added that the chefs’ heartfelt tributes in their dishes frequently moved her to tears, underscoring the powerful role movie storytelling plays in their culinary inspiration. “Our audience is about to meet brand new stars in the making,” she said enthusiastically.

Lead judge Tom Kerridge also praised the level of skill and dedication demonstrated by the contestants. “Expect outstanding cookery, showcasing exemplary skills and regional produce, all tied together by a fantastic theme and a panel of knowledgeable and entertaining judges,” he said.

Great British Menu returns to BBC Two and iPlayer on February 24, promising a season filled with innovative cuisine and celebration of Britain’s rich film heritage.
