Glastonbury Organisers Urge Fans to Stay Safe as Temperatures Soar to 27°C

Glastonbury Festival is enjoying bright, sunny weather today as temperatures climb to a balmy 27°C. However, organisers at Worthy Farm are urging attendees to prioritize their safety amid the heat by following important guidelines.

Hundreds of thousands of festival-goers will experience warm conditions throughout Sunday, with the peak temperature expected around 4-5 pm – just in time for Rod Stewart’s set at the Pyramid Stage. While the sunshine is welcome, festival officials warn that dehydration and sunburn are real risks if proper care is not taken.

The BBC weather forecast confirms a hot day with sunny spells and a gentle breeze, but also highlights high pollen and UV levels. Attendees are encouraged to frequently apply sunscreen and seek out shade when possible to avoid heat exhaustion.

Yesterday, Glastonbury organisers shared vital safety tips via Instagram stories to help fans cope with the rising temperatures. Their top advice: “Drink lots of water. Our 800+ taps provide free drinking water, and if you run low, just ask stewards or security.”

Additional guidance includes wearing hats or creating makeshift ones, using sunglasses to protect eyes, and avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, as it can speed up dehydration. Festival-goers are advised to wear loose clothing that allows breathability and to regularly reapply sunscreen – factor 30 or higher is recommended.

Parents were given specific advice as well: instead of covering a pushchair to provide shade, which can trap heat inside, it’s better to position it away from direct sunlight.

Lastly, attendees are reminded to watch out for each other and to seek medical assistance promptly if anyone feels faint or unwell. Medical facilities are available across the site, including a main medical tent at Big Ground Medical.

By following these simple precautions, everyone can enjoy Glastonbury’s sunshine safely and make the most of this iconic festival.
