Glastonbury Town Council has announced the cancellation of the weekly Glastonbury Charter Market scheduled for Tuesday, citing safety concerns due to adverse weather conditions. Normally held every Tuesday from 9am to 3pm, the popular market typically features over 35 vendors offering a diverse range of handmade goods, gifts, and seasonal produce.
In an official statement, the council explained, “In the interest of public safety, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Glastonbury Charter Market scheduled for tomorrow. High winds present a significant risk to gazebos, displays, and equipment, posing dangers to traders, visitors, and staff alike.”
The Met Office has forecasted heavy rain and gusts up to 35 mph in Glastonbury and the wider Somerset area throughout the morning, particularly between 5am and 11am. The adverse weather begins overnight with rain sweeping in from the west, bringing locally heavy downpours especially across the hills and moorlands of Devon and Cornwall. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 7°C to a maximum of 19°C.

The region is expected to experience changeable weather over the following days, including sunny spells, blustery showers, and additional periods of rain, particularly on Thursday.
The council encourages residents and visitors to stay safe and remain updated on weather developments.
