A 46-year-old man from Glastonbury, Leslie Roper, has been charged with eight offences following a series of incidents in Somerset. The charges stem from events that occurred in Bridgwater and Street on Wednesday, February 25.
Among the charges against Roper are assaulting an emergency worker and making off without payment. He appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Friday, February 27, where he was remanded in custody. Roper is scheduled to face trial at the same court on Friday, April 17.
In connection with the incident in Street on February 25, Wayne Shortland, 41, of Buckland Close, Glastonbury, was also charged with making off without payment. Shortland has been released on conditional bail while investigations continue.
