Each year, over 200,000 music fans flock to the small Somerset village of Pilton—home to just over 1,000 residents—to experience the legendary Glastonbury Festival. This year’s event kicks off on June 25 at Worthy Farm, drawing crowds eager to enjoy headline performances from The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, Neil Young, Rod Stewart, and Charli XCX.
If you’re planning your first visit, knowing how to get to the festival site is key. The organizers encourage attendees to choose eco-friendly travel methods like cycling and public transport to reduce their carbon footprint. In fact, more than a third of ticket-holders arrive by coach, train, or bus services coordinated with the festival.
National Express offers coach and festival ticket packages from over 90 locations, making coach travel convenient and popular. Local buses also run frequent services to the festival’s dedicated bus station, ensuring smooth connections from nearby towns.

Cyclists are supported by the Bike To Glasto initiative, which provides free, secure bike lock-ups and a campsite exclusively for cyclists, complete with shower facilities. For added convenience, Bike To Glasto offers luggage transport services for a small fee, with drop-off locations across Somerset and even West London.
Train travelers can take advantage of a free shuttle bus between the festival site and Castle Cary station, running throughout the event. Note that this shuttle requires a valid festival ticket for access, and luggage trolleys are not permitted on board.
For those driving, the festival advises sharing car rides to help both the environment and reduce fuel costs. Car park passes, which are non-transferable and non-refundable after the refund deadline, must be purchased in advance. Clear driving routes are available from all over the UK, including South London, Swindon, the North East, Midlands, North West, and Wales. Festival signage will guide drivers to the festival vicinity, with additional directions to the official site.
Motorcycles and quad bikes are not allowed on-site but can be securely parked for free in a compound near the bus station, marked by Yellow Route signs. Motorcycles do not require a parking pass.
Several other transport options from nearby cities include:
- National Express direct coach service from Bristol Bus Station to the festival coach station.
- Bus services 374/375/376 from Bristol Temple Meads to Glastonbury, connecting to festival shuttles.
- Bus service 174 from Bath Bus Station to Shepton Mallet, connecting to festival shuttle buses.
A dedicated free shuttle bus runs between Castle Cary Station and the Festival Bus Station, operating from Wednesday to Monday, except during overnight hours when trains do not run. Remember, your festival ticket is required to use this shuttle.
With these extensive transport options, attendees can plan their journey to Glastonbury Festival 2025 comfortably and sustainably.
