Glastonbury Council Denies Bankruptcy Amid Social Media Rumours

Glastonbury Town Council has firmly denied rumours circulating on social media that suggest it is facing bankruptcy. At July’s council meeting, Councillor Jon Cousins addressed the community’s concerns and reassured residents by sharing the latest Budget Monitoring Report, which confirmed the council’s financial stability.

“I was relieved to review the Budget Monitoring Report this month after seeing some alarming posts online claiming the council was bankrupt,” Cllr Cousins stated. “Unfortunately, many people believed these rumours, but the report clearly shows that such claims are unfounded.”

He emphasized the importance of relying on official information over social media speculation: “To be absolutely clear: Glastonbury Town Council is not bankrupt. I hope this statement, along with the budget report, helps to dispel any fears.”

The clarification comes in response to ongoing unsubstantiated allegations about the council’s financial status, which have caused unnecessary worry among local residents. The council urges everyone to trust verified documents and reports issued by official sources rather than misinformation spreading online.
