Glastonbury Carnival 2025: Your Guide to the Route, Road Closures, and Parking

Glastonbury is set to sparkle this Saturday, November 15, as it hosts the final procession of the Somerset County Carnivals circuit for 2025. The town will come alive with vibrant music, dazzling illuminated floats, and a festive atmosphere, marking the conclusion of an unforgettable carnival season.

Glastonbury Carnival is one of the prestigious ‘Magnificent Seven’—the seven most celebrated carnivals among approximately 30 across the South West. After the spectacular processions in Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, and Wells, Glastonbury proudly wraps up the circuit for another year.

The main procession kicks off at 6:45pm, but spectators are encouraged to arrive earlier to enjoy the lively pre-carnival festivities lining the streets.

While the carnival is free to attend, donations are welcomed. Contributions support local charities and help preserve the rich tradition of the Somerset carnival culture.

Procession Route: The carnival lineup will gather on the Glastonbury Relief Road, stretching from Northload Roundabout towards Tinbridge Roundabout, and also on Northload Street and Paradise Road.

At 6:45pm, the procession will start just past Northload Roundabout at the traffic lights, then proceed along the A39 towards Wirral Park Roundabout near B&Q, turning left onto the A361 Street Road.

A brief rest stop along this stretch allows participants a short break, with no performances during this pause.

The parade then turns left onto Magdalene Street, continues through the High Street, and concludes along Wells Road near the junction with Manor House Road.

Road Closures and Parking: To ensure everyone’s safety, several road closures will be in place:

Friday, November 14:

  • From 6pm Friday to midnight Saturday (November 16)

Saturday, November 15:

  • 3pm to 5pm: Magdalene Street, High Street, and Benedict Street will be closed to manage large crowds and facilitate daytime entertainers moving freely.

  • 5pm to approximately 10-11pm (or until safe to reopen):

    • A39 Street Roundabout
    • A39 Northload Bridge Roundabout including B3151 Northload Bridge Road
    • Chilkwell Street at A361 junction
    • Wells Road (access to Thorndun Estate and Dunstans Park will be at the marshal’s discretion; proof of address may be required, and access will be restricted after 8pm)

All surrounding roads providing access to the route will also be closed during these times.

Parking in the Town Centre: Limited parking is available, and arriving before the road closures is essential, as vehicles will not be able to leave until roads reopen.

Council-run car parks operate with normal charges and issue receipts for display in your vehicle.

Retail shoppers parking in store car parks will be charged but can receive refunds if they exit before 5pm.

Alternatively, parking at Clarks Village in nearby Street offers a convenient option with a pleasant walk into Glastonbury.

This is a wonderful opportunity to witness a cherished local tradition and enjoy the vibrant community spirit. Plan ahead, arrive early, and join in the fun as Glastonbury bids farewell to another memorable carnival season.
