While Glastonbury took a break this summer, excitement is already building for the 2027 festival at Worthy Farm. With exactly one year to go, bookmakers have revealed the leading contenders vying for coveted headline spots.
Betway currently lists Harry Styles and Sam Fender as joint favourites at 6/4 odds to headline. Close behind at 2/1 is the legendary Oasis, sparking rumors of a major tour announcement later this year. Other strong candidates include Taylor Swift (5/2), Ed Sheeran (3/1), and Sabrina Carpenter (3/1).
British music stalwarts Fred Again.., Radiohead, and Florence & The Machine all hold 4/1 odds, while global icons like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Chappell Roan, and Eminem stand at 8/1.

Lewis Knowles, Betway’s spokesperson, commented: “Although Glastonbury is taking a fallow year this summer, anticipation for 2027 is already high. Harry Styles and Sam Fender are the current top picks to headline, and with the Eavis family planning ahead, the lineup discussions are well underway.”
Why No Festival This Year?
Glastonbury occasionally observes a “fallow year” — a deliberate break allowing the farmland and grass at Worthy Farm to recover from the intense wear of hosting hundreds of thousands of festival-goers. Emily Eavis, daughter of festival founder Michael Eavis, told the BBC: “The fallow year is important because it rests the land and lets the cows reclaim the fields. It also gives everyone a chance to take a break and come back refreshed.”
The festival has faced other interruptions in the past, including cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Previous breaks occurred in 1988 and 1991 for environmental reasons and crowd control, with official fallow years instituted from 1996, occurring roughly every five to six years.
