A remarkable giant boombox-shaped toilet, co-designed by legendary rockstar Sir Rod Stewart, has made its striking debut at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The unique creation, named WaterAid’s Boombox Bog, incorporates a fully functional toilet concealed behind the tape deck of an enormous blue boombox, adorned with leopard print—a signature style closely associated with Sir Rod.
At 80 years old, Rod Stewart is set to perform on Sunday in the coveted tea-time legends slot on the Pyramid Stage, conveniently located near this eye-catching installation.

Reflecting on the project, Sir Rod remarked, “I’ve spent my life performing to packed arenas and festival crowds, but nothing strikes a chord quite like having access to clean water and a decent loo. They may not be glamorous, but they’re life-changing essentials."
He added, “That’s why I’m proud to team up with WaterAid to bring the funky Boombox Bog to Glastonbury. We want to highlight the importance of these everyday necessities that millions around the world still lack. Together, we’re creating change that will last forever.”
Festival-goers visiting the Boombox Bog can enjoy classic hits from Sir Rod such as “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and “Sailing,” coupled with specially recorded water-themed messages from the singer himself.
Jennie York, WaterAid’s executive director of communications and fundraising, praised the collaboration: “We’re incredibly grateful to Rod for helping us raise awareness about the vital impact of clean water and decent toilets with the funkiest loo at Glastonbury. It’s an engaging way to celebrate the transformation possible when everyone’s basic needs are met."
She continued, “Our dedicated volunteers are here on site, ensuring the water flows and toilets stay clean, so festival-goers can focus on the magic of the event. But when the music stops, our mission continues. We strive to build a world where everyone has the water they need to live healthy, learn, and thrive.”
WaterAid has been an official charity partner of Glastonbury since 1994, supporting the festival’s water and sanitation services while raising global awareness about water-related challenges.
This year, thousands of music lovers have gathered at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, for five days of extraordinary performances, including headliners like The 1975, Neil Young with his band the Chrome Hearts, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Notably, Rod Stewart’s Glastonbury performance is his return to the stage following a short break from touring in the US to recover from the flu. He has teased special guest appearances, including a reunion with former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood, promising an unforgettable set at the festival.
