Garden Fire Spreads to Somerset Home; Firefighters Work Through Night to Extinguish Blaze

A garden fire in Somerset escalated late last night, spreading to a nearby home and prompting an emergency response from local fire crews. The incident occurred in the Thames Drive area of Taunton around 9:14 pm on April 11.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service promptly dispatched two fire engines from Taunton after receiving reports of a garden fire extending to a residential property. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that flames had moved from the rear garden to the back of the house.

Using specialized equipment, including a thermal imaging camera and hose reel jet, the teams worked diligently to control and extinguish the fire. The firefighting operation continued well into the early hours.

By 2:06 am on April 12, the fire service announced the blaze was fully extinguished. All residents were accounted for and confirmed safe and well following welfare checks. To ensure safety, gas and electricity supplies to the property were isolated. A positive pressure ventilation fan was employed to clear lingering smoke from the building.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as authorities assess the incident.
