Fundraiser for Aria Thorpe’s Family Surpasses £20,000 in Support Following Tragic Loss

In the wake of nine-year-old Aria Thorpe’s sudden and tragic death in Weston-super-Mare, an outpouring of community support has led to an online fundraiser raising more than £20,000 in just days.

Aria passed away from a single stab wound on Monday, December 15. A 15-year-old boy has been charged with her murder and appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on December 17. He is scheduled for a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on December 19.

The fundraiser, created by family friend Heather Prindiville, was launched to help provide vital financial support to Aria’s family as they navigate this unimaginable loss during what should be a joyous time of year. Although the JustGiving page went live only recently, it has already attracted donations from over 1,000 generous supporters, surpassing its original £10,000 goal by a wide margin.

Heather shared heartfelt words on the fundraising page, saying, “Tragedy has struck in the most unimaginable way at a time meant to be magical and full of love. I want to take at least one worry away from Tori, Aria’s mum, who is a single mother and military veteran. She has always given so much to others – her love, support, and service to her country. Now, she needs space to heal.”

She expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming response: “My heart is full. Thank you will never be enough for your support, your kindness, and your condolences. I aimed high because this family has a whole world to rebuild, and your generosity continues to amaze me.”

The fundraiser has also been shared by family members across social media platforms including TikTok, where they’ve thanked donors for their massive support.

This collective effort stands as a testament to the community’s compassion during a heartbreaking time, offering both financial relief and emotional solidarity to Aria’s family as they begin to heal.
