Frome Inspires Community to Envision Its Future in 2050

Frome Town Council is inviting residents to step into the future with an exciting opportunity to shape the town’s vision for 2050. On Thursday, 23rd October, from 9am to 4pm, the council will host ‘Imagining Future Frome,’ a free, full-day workshop led by Rob Hopkins, founder of the Transition Movement, celebrated author, and activist. The event will take place at the Cheese and Grain venue, welcoming everyone to participate.

Using Rob Hopkins’ acclaimed ‘Imagination Trainings’ approach, attendees will engage in creative and practical exercises to envision how Frome can thrive amidst a changing climate and evolving technologies. This interactive workshop encourages optimism and collaboration, empowering the community to plan a sustainable, vibrant future together.

Later that evening, at 7pm, broadcaster Fayon Dixon—known for his work with BBC Radio London and Talk Radio and his dedication to spreading positivity—will host a book launch for Hopkins’ latest work, How to Fall in Love with the Future. The launch event will also be held at the Cheese and Grain, with tickets priced at £3, available through Frome Town Council.

Council climate action lead Matt Mellen shared his enthusiasm: “Earlier this year, hundreds of locals gathered for our first climate adaptation workshop, diving into practical plans to face the climate crisis. This new workshop takes a bold next step: imagining the future from a place of hope and creativity. By 2050, Frome will face warmer temperatures and could see AI transforming workplaces. What other changes will shape our community?”

Residents interested in attending the free workshop can secure a place by visiting https://bit.ly/rob-hopkins-imagining-future-frome. This is a unique chance to actively participate in shaping Frome’s future and ensure it’s a thriving, inclusive town for generations to come.
