Frome Carnival 2025: Essential Information on Road Closures, Parking Restrictions, and Timings

Somerset’s beloved carnival season continues this weekend with the much-anticipated Frome Carnival procession. With origins dating back nearly a century, the parade of illuminated carts and walkers will light up the town from 7pm tonight. However, this year’s event comes with a stark warning from organisers—without additional funding, this may be Frome’s final carnival.

The organisers highlight that Frome Carnival is unique among Somerset’s celebrations as the only carnival registered as a charity. Beyond being a spectacular community event, it raises thousands of pounds annually for the Carnival Charity. These funds are then channelled back into local causes, supporting individuals and organisations within the community.

As they explain: “Frome’s Carnival and its Charity rely heavily on the goodwill and support of local residents and businesses. Because the proceeds from the procession collection go directly into the charity account, alternative funding is necessary to cover event costs.”
