Four Cows Rescued from Water-Filled Ditch in Edington

On the evening of Tuesday, October 14, a coordinated rescue effort saved four cows trapped in a water-filled ditch in the Edington area. The incident, which unfolded around 6:30 pm, saw fire crews working closely with an animal rescue team along with the assistance of a heroic member of the public.

The cows had been stuck for an extended period, prompting emergency responders to quickly devise a safe and effective rescue plan. Utilizing dry suits and safety lines, the team successfully pulled all four cows from the ditch without any reported injuries.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that their on-call crew from Bridgwater and the Animal Rescue team were dispatched promptly after the initial report. Thanks to the teamwork and swift action, the rescue was completed safely, with fire crews leaving the site just before 10 pm.
