Former Postman Sentenced for Sexual Assaults on Two Children

Kevin Dell, a 61-year-old former postman from Hawthorn Grove, Trowbridge, has been sentenced at Swindon Crown Court for multiple sexual assaults on two children. Dell pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13 during his court appearance on December 10.

The offences came to light after Dell assaulted a child known to him through his previous job as a postman in December 2023. He attempted to kiss the victim multiple times, leading to a police investigation and his arrest.

Further scrutiny following a Sarah’s Law application revealed additional sexual assaults committed by Dell against a second child between 2019 and 2021. These discoveries resulted in the charges against him, all of which he admitted in court.

Local Crime Investigator Tamara Barnett, from the Volume Crime Team, praised the victims for their courage in coming forward. “The victims have shown immense bravery, especially considering their young age. Their families have also been supportive throughout this lengthy process,” Barnett said.

Barnett noted that Dell exhibited no remorse and had even boasted about his actions despite his guilty plea. “I am satisfied with the sentence given and the imposition of sexual harm prevention and restraining orders,” she added.

Dell was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years. He is also required to sign the Sex Offenders Register for ten years and will be subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order as well as a five-year restraining order.

Sarah’s Law, officially known as the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme, allows individuals to request police information about whether someone in contact with a child has a record of child sexual offences or poses a risk to children.
